Prince Edward Island Acadian Museum (Miscouche)

Thanks to the permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as the Genealogical Research Center, you will discover almost 300 years of Acadian presence on the Island. The first Acadians arrived at the Isle Saint-Jean in 1720. You will appreciate a video as well as paintings mounted in Claude Picard’s gallery. A patrimonial hiking trail allows you to learn while enjoying the outdoor. Proud of their heritage, the Acadians knew how to protect their culture and their language. The Bottle Houses (Cap-Egmont)

Walk through three fantasy-like buildings made of over 25,000 coloured glass bottles; admire the symphony of light and colour within. Take a souvenir picture in front of the giant-size 13-foot bottle, take a peaceful walk through the colorful gardens and enjoy the scent of thousands of flowers.

Prince Edward Island National Park

Prince Edward Island National Park is a 60-kilometre stretch of the Island's north shore. Home to Cavendish Beach, the Gulfshore Parkway and the breathtaking landscape of Greenwich, the national park brings you up close and personal with some of the Island's most iconic natural treasures. Whether it's a day at the beach, a night camping under the stars, or a cycle tour of the north shore coastline, PEI National Park offers something for everyone.

The park is divided into three regions (Cavendish-North Rustico, Brackley-Dalvay, and Greenwich), which are separated by bays and not directly connected by highways.

The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico & Doucet House (North Rustico)

From the cradle of this contemporary "l'Acadie de l'île", bordering on Rustico Bay and the National Park of Prince Edward Island, visitors may see numerous buildings and dwellings which together serve as a legacy of the past and commemorate the determination and ingenuity of the Acadians. The Farmers' Bank of Rustico, a National Historic Site houses an exhibit of the Rustico Acadians.

Skmaqn–Port-la-Joye–Fort-Amherst National Historic Site (Rocky Point)

Originally established by the French in 1720, Skmaqn–Port-la-Joye–Fort Amherst commemorates the first permanent European settlement on Île Saint-Jean (today Prince Edward Island). After falling to British forces in 1758 it became the site of a major deportation of French and Acadian settlers. A Grand Alliance was forged here between the Mi'kmaq and French - one of only two locations in North America where this was celebrated annually with speeches, gifting and feasting. The fort’s grassy ruins are still visible, and interpretive panels explore its rich history. The grounds also offer superb views of the surrounding countryside and Charlottetown Harbour.

DAY 3

Wood Islands Lighthouse (Wood Islands)

This lighthouse, which began operation in 1876 to aid Marine traffic in the Northumberland Strait and fishing boats in and around Wood Islands, has an attached six-room, two-storey dwelling for the keeper and his family. It is adjacent to the Northumberland Ferries Limited docks, is open daily for tours and houses a nautical craft shop and the Fishery and Coast Guard Museum.

Roma at Three Rovers National Historic Site (Montague)

Encounter the life and times of the 1730s. Step back in time with the interpretive guides and in the spirit of the time, try period dress on yourself! Walk the French heritage garden. Play with children's toys and games of the 1700s. Savour a daily heritage lunch or afternoon tea featuring bread made in the outdoor oven to accompany our soups, seafood chowder and heritage dessert. Hike the trails and head to Roma's point to see three Canadian heritage rivers converge. Learn more about Jean Pierre Roma, the trader, established one of the first French settlements on PEI primarily to fish cod which he dried and salted to send back to France.

Phare de Souris Est (Souris)

Built in 1880, Souris East Lighthouse is a wood-constructed tower on Knight Point overlooking the town of Souris. Visitors can climb to the lantern room, walk out to the balcony, and discover the panoramic seascape views of the harbour and town of Souris. The lighthouse also houses an interpretive centre with the history of sea glass, the lighthouse, the port, and the Town of Souris. A nautical gift shop and washrooms have been added to the premises.

Basin Head Provincial Park (Souris)

Basin Head is a day use park featuring a supervised white sand beach, play area, food on site, washroom and shower facilities. The beach also bears the name of the “singing sands” since the sand squeaks when you walk on it.

East Point Lighthouse (Elmira)

Built in 1867, this lighthouse is one of the Island’s last manned lighthouses. It is also one of the busiest aids to navigation for both deep sea traffic and the inshore and offshore fishery. The light station consists of a lighthouse, cottage, fog alarm, radio, beacon station and an oil shed. As one of the Island's itinerant lighthouses, the East Point Lighthouse has been moved several times due to poor positioning of the light and continuing erosion of the coastline. Today, the old fog alarm building houses crafts and an interpretive centre.
